After checking out the Gary Loomis podcast, I did a search for other fly related ones and was returned with maybe 75 different choices.Anyone subscribe to them? They seem like pretty good time wasters on the bus to work, but I don't really want to burn my bandwith trying them all out.Thanks.]]>

George, for what it's worth here's my version of the back swimmer variety - weighted with solder wire tied on the back under peacock herl - and stiff legs made from 40lb mono. It rides hook up so can be fished slow and deep on a floating line, even bumping along the bottom without too much snagging up.]]>

I would think it's a water boatman.
Backswimmers and water boatmen are also common water bugs in our back yard swimming pools.“Adults of both have wings and can show up in pools overnight. Backswimmers are predatory. If handled, they can deliver a painful bite with their long, beak-like mouthparts,” Dr Lambkin said.“Water boatmen have broader, flattened bodies and generally don’t bite humans. Backswimmers swim upside down with their legs facing the surface, while water boatmen swim the right way up.
http://www.frasercoastchronicle.com.au/story/2010/01/29/are-poolside-predators-bugging-you/]]>

Anyone know what this bug is - it and a few of its mates have taken a liking to the swimming pool]]>
